Key Points of Safe Use of Electric Forklift Batteries
2024-07-24

As a forklift operator, you must abide by the correct operation rules and use the forklift safely. Keep the following ten basic precautions in mind:

  1. The battery will generate hydrogen, which may cause an explosion. Smoking near the battery is strictly prohibited, and any flame or spark is strictly prohibited. When storing or charging the battery, it must be in a well-ventilated area, but not at the air extraction outlet to avoid corrosion caused by acid mist.

  2. The battery fluid contains corrosive liquid, which may cause serious burns. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes, or clothes. In case of an accident, immediately rinse with a large amount of clean water and seek medical attention promptly.

  3. When inspecting or maintaining the battery, please wear rubber gloves to avoid electric shock.

  4. The surface of the battery or the connection points must be kept clean. Dust, impurities, etc. must be removed with a damp cloth. Otherwise, it may cause electric leakage and even a major fire.

  5. When cleaning the battery, be sure to use a damp cloth, not a dry cloth.

  6. Do not connect the positive and negative poles of the battery with tools or other items.

  7. When charging, the temperature of the electrolyte should not exceed 50 degrees Celsius to avoid the electrolyte overflowing and causing harm, especially during summer days.

  8. Before unplugging the battery plug, to avoid generating sparks, be sure to turn off the forklift key switch and the charger switch first.

  9. The electrolyte level should not be lower than the minimum limit, otherwise the battery is likely to overheat and burn out.

  10. Keep children away.
